Spring couples

The sunshine has arrived in this country too, hurray!

Done some lovely weddings lately, Andy and Clare's here in Newbury. Two musicians getting married ... we were spoilt with a wonderful quartet playing through out the day. Loved it! We went to nearby farmland, I surprised the bride by handing her a pair of wellies to put on (...she was in a knee-length dress) and we walked to a nearby forest type area for photos! Super couple!

Tina and Marc must have chosen one of the sunniest days in April! It was a lovely in Surrey and their guests were enjoying every moment of the day. The ceremony was in a church built in 1050(!?) and it was beautiful! It was the day of the Grand National so I spent a little while looking for the Groom for photos, and ofcourse lots of the gents were in the pub! It was super seeing this groom dance, once all the traditions and things to worry about were over, the joyfulness of his marriage really shone through then!

AmaZing!

Ahhh, to be a wedding photographer in Cape Town ... to know the odds are there will be sunshine! all day and no rain. And as for location, a wine farm in the hills of Stellenbosch ain't too bad at all.
I do confess to making the bride cry though, hearing Amazing Grace sung in a small countryside chapel was just too much for me. Days after visiting the townships and reading Nelson Mandela's autobiography, coupled with seeing this beautiful couple getting hitched in Africa ... it made me blub which put a tear in her eye too. It was all just too beautiful :) Thank you so much for all the good moments...

South African adventures

Africa,
smiles at me for
a second.

So I arrived in Cape Town stating that I felt more English than African, and I left with a broken heart and a question of why was I now leaving this beautiful continent. It was an incredible trip, wonderful people and enlightening experiences - spending time in the townships blew my mind and made me come down to earth with a bump, the friendly faces that I met and their humble circumstances will be inprinted on my mind for a very long time.
Last weekend I was honoured to photograph a wedding at one of Stellenbosch's beautiful wine farms - Zorgvliet. It was heavenly, blue skies, very pretty girls and good humoured lads, and me running around barefoot for most of the reception, nikon in one hand and a polaroid in the other.
So good to be home!

South America

A change of scenery

Today I had so much fun. A South African girl who'd never seen snow, a 13 year old girl who had wicked aim with snowballs, and I spent the afternoon sledging down the hills on the Guinness estate. Also building and designing snowmen, attempting to make snow angels, and eating snow - it's the taste of freshness.

A girl had come around to tend to the pigeons, she was Asian and had a pet ferret, a rather unique look. I wanted to ask if I could take her photo but long good-byes got in the way. I did manage to get a snap of her though...

And soon I'm off to South America, then South Africa. Just thinking about it now takes my breath away ...

Time flies when you're having fun

There's no rest for the wicked ....

The very talented and fun M.I.B Band, they're gooooood!

Kaffy and Neil's big day was really great! I arrived early so had lots of the time with the bride and got to play a part in her getting ready ... little moments of variety are always much appreciated by me. An absolutely fantastic couple :) I love these two! And their Best man.

And Eddie and Lorreta, on New Years Eve at the warm and welcoming Berystede Hotel. Two more people that I have been very priviledged to meet, and I got to party in 2009 with them, wooohooo! Super couple!
And then some of my own stuff....

Thanks to everyone from the SWPP Convention yesterday! Cheers to Mike for inviting me along :)
